Our Story …

Tim and Mark are happy to announce that we're taking part in Mystery Box Rally in 2022!!

Mystery Box Rally is one of the largest community lead fundraising events for the Cancer Council in Australia having raised over $4.5 million in the last 9 years. This rally will have us driving a car that is 25 years or older along outback roads. We will do approximately 2,500kms in 5 days! We set off from Rockhampton & return back to Rockhampton 5 days later, each day in between is a mystery, we have no idea where we will be headed until the morning of! In order for us to participate we need to raise $3,500 and every dollar raised goes to the Cancer Council! We would very much appreciate it if you could donate to the cause & help us on our journey!

Here's what I'm doing …

Teams will drive their own 25+ year old cars along a mystery route in this unique 5-day challenge, all in the name of cancer research. The route is a loop starting and finishing at the same location, but all the other details are kept under wraps, only given to the teams each morning.

The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.

Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally."

Went to a recent lecture on heart disease and the steps taken to reduce its incidence - huge improvements made with huge funding, which is great.

Then someone in the audience pointed out that the incidence of brain tumours in children remains unchanged after 30 years and perhaps its time more funding was directed into this area - hence the pledge for the rally and a chance to raise funds for cancer research.

The Covid 19 situation is certainly a worry.

Being self isolated is also inconvenient.

But things were put into perspective today when some people told us, yes the situation is not good, but when compared to having our child diagnosed with a brain tumour we know can handle it.

Amid the current turmoil, please keep safe and keep donating for the benefit of young cancer victims.

We're gearing up for next years rally - now that this year's attempt has been officially scuttled by Covid.

Not that we're doing it tough compared to some.

Kids are still contracting cancer and for them the mountain is still there to climb - Covid or no Covid.

So please - keep donating, and rest assured your hard earned $ are going straight to cancer council for the good of all.

Latest update. Our fund raising reached new highs with an anonymous donation putting the team over $5k raised. We have a pretty good idea who the anonymous donator is so are planning something special for after rallying. It’s so encouraging to keep having donations coming in and knowing that they go straight to work with hands on research on behalf of cancer council. Many thanks to all donators from the team.
Well, its a short postponment - November 6th is new start date. Thats all good with the team at Clifton Capers. We will adapt and fit in with whats possible to get rallied during these testing times with Covid.

The thing is though, cancer doesnt recognise delays or postponments. Unfortunately, for those affected it just keeps on going. Puts it all in perspective really. Please keep donating if you can - time does not stand still for those cancer sufferers.

Lets continue our support.

Thanks from the team at Clifton Capers

Hello and happy new 2022 to everyone.

Well, the car and crew couldnt make it to Rocky last year becasue of some pesky virus getting around.

No dramas, we're all set for Port Lincoln and the South Aus backroads in June this year.

The Christmas holidays were pretty quiet, but also very enjoyable.

Time to reflect on how fortunate we are, with a rally to look forward to, and a car that goes still.

For those cancer patients out there, we also thought about you, and how we can hopefully raise some more funds that can be channeled into viable research to assist those in need.

So to all our supporters, wishing you a successful 2022 and please dig deep and push forward on the donation front whenever you can.

best wishes from the team at Clifton Capers

The Impact, Outcomes & Charity

Mystery Box Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.

Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.

Thanks to the community funds raised such as Mystery Box Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.

$41 million over the past 13 years has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:

 • A research study to develop a vaccine that protects against lymphoma cancers.
 • A research trial to standardise international guidelines on melanoma removal.
 • A research grant to revolutionise the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
