TEAM UPDATE:
Bill has withdrawn from the rally with the change of dates and location, so now long time friend, Mark Ware is joining Gus on this epic journey to help fight cancer with this 2022 rally starting and finishing in Port Lincoln, South Australia!!
As before, we expect dirt roads, dust and this time cold conditions, driving along a mystery route in this 5-day challenge, all in the name of cancer research.

We, Gus and Bill, the Doszpot brothers, are teaming up to join the Rally in 2020 to raise more funds to support the awesome work the Cancer Council does helping people with cancer and enabling important research. This event is the largest community led fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia.
Sadly, we’ve seen more than our share of cancer hitting our circles, with our mum, sister and nephew all having beaten cancer. Our eldest brother, Steve was taken in 2017, and our brother in law, Sebastian and Gus’s mother in law, Louise lost their cancer battles some years before. There are also several friends who are or have been affected by this insidious disease. Steve’s passing is still deeply felt, and his public crusade to raise awareness of liver cancer and encourage people at risk to have checks has had an impact on many.
The rally is over five days driving in a loop from Rockhampton to Rockhampton, and we won’t know where we’ll be going in between, we’ll be covering about 2500 kilometres with all the other details kept under wraps, and only given to the teams each morning. We do expect dirt roads, dust and heat, driving along a mystery route in this 5-day challenge, all in the name of cancer research. We also have to have our own 25+ year old car to participate, and we’ll probably take a little 1991 Toyota Seca (without air conditioning !!!) - a noble survivor of the 2019 rally.
Teams will drive their own 25+ year old cars along a mystery route in this unique 5-day challenge, all in the name of cancer research. The route is a loop starting and finishing at the same location, but all the other details are kept under wraps, only given to the teams each morning.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally."
