We are really happy to announce that we're taking part in Mystery Box Rally in 2022!!
This year we are honouring all the “Cancer Journey Support Crew”, Mothers, Fathers, Wives, Husbands, Partners, Family and Friends. Our Mothers, Carmen & Val have been the rock that kept it altogether, as they watched and supported their lifelong friend, husband and the father of their children battle the disease. Sadly, we have lost both Janet's parents Val & Clif and a very dear friend and Colleague Warwick. True to their spirits they stayed strong and never gave up, a true testament of their character.
Along with "BOB on the roof, our recognisable number plates "4HRDAD" and our bonnet adorned with caricatures of our Mothers and Fathers, we will be unstoppable!
Our dear friend Warwick has shot gunned the drivers side passenger door, he will ride there as a reminder to us of the courage it takes to make it on the Journey.
The car will be covered with names of loved ones who are or have fought the fight.
Mystery Box Rally is one of the largest community lead fundraising events for the Cancer Council in Australia having raised over $4.5 million in the last 9 years. This rally will have us driving a car that is 25 years or older along outback roads. We will do approximately 2,500kms in 5 days! We set off from Rockhampton & return back to Rockhampton 5 days later, each day in between is a mystery, we have no idea where we will be headed until the morning of!
In 2019 we raised $21,000 and our target for this rally is $25,000 with every dollar raised going to the Cancer Council! We would very much appreciate it if you could donate to the cause & help us on our journey!
Teams will drive their own 25+ year old cars along a mystery route in this unique 5-day challenge, all in the name of cancer research. The route is a loop starting and finishing at the same location, but all the other details are kept under wraps, only given to the teams each morning.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally."
